Ant Man whose real name is Anthony DeVante Edwards was born August 5, 2001and is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He was a shooting guard for the Georgia Bulldogs in college basketball.

He was nicknamed “Ant Man” by his dad when he was 3 years old.

Edwards was selected with the first overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2020 NBA Draft.



Early Life


Anthony was nurtured in Atlanta, Georgia.

Edwards spent much of his childhood playing football as a running back, quarterback, and cornerback.

By the age of ten, he had already established himself as one of the top Pop Warner running backs in the country.

Anthony had this natural athleticism as a footballer and could really jump, taking such attributes from this dad.

Edwards, on the other hand, shifted his concentration to basketball after witnessing his brothers play the sport and “thinking it seemed more fun.”

At their grandmother’s house, he would frequently play basketball against his brothers.

Anthony was in 8th grade when his mum and grandmother died of Cancer in 8 months, Edwards was heartbroken and left with a very big void in his heart.



As a member of the 2019 class, he began playing high school basketball for Therrell High School in Atlanta.


Edwards reclassified to the 2020 class after transferring to Holy Spirit Preparatory School in Atlanta in early January 2017.


He transferred in order to better his academic performance, as Holy Spirit Preparatory had “small class sizes and support to aid with that.”


Edwards was a five-star recruit, a top-five player, and the best shooting guard in the class of 2019.


He committed to play college basketball for Georgia on February 11, 2019, becoming the program’s best recruit in the modern era.


Edwards turned down offers from Florida State, Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina in favour of the Bulldogs.


Edwards was enticed to Georgia because head coach Tom Crean had coached two of his favourite players, Dwyane Wade and Victor Oladipo, in college.


Edwards made his debut for Georgia, recording 24 points, nine rebounds, and four steals in a 91–72 win over Western Carolina.


It was the most points by a Georgia freshman debutant since Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Dominique Wilkins in 1979.


Edwards was the top scorer on his team and among freshmen nationally.


On March 20, 2020, Edwards declared for the 2020 NBA draft as one of the most touted prospects in his class.


He signed with an agent, forgoing his remaining college basketball eligibility.


In the 2020 NBA draft, Edwards was selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves.


On December 23, 2020, Edwards made his NBA debut, putting up 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in 25 minutes, in a 111–101 win against the Detroit Pistons.


On March 18, 2021, Edwards scored a then career-high 42 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists in a game against the Phoenix Suns becoming the third youngest player to score 40+ points in NBA history.


Edwards has mentioned Kevin Durant to be his favourite NBA player but also looks up to Allen Iverson and Jimmy Butler.


Edwards scored a career-high 48 points on seven three-pointers in a 123–110 loss to the Golden State Warriors.


Edwards also became the fourth current player with at least 2,000 points, 400 rebounds, and 300 assists in his first 100 career games, joining LeBron James, Blake Griffin, and Luka Dončić as the youngest players in NBA history to make 10 three-pointers in a game.


He is a rapper and has a rap song with American rapper and childhood friend, Lil Baby.


He also bragged that he is a much better rapper than Dame.

He wears the number 1 jersey for the Minnesota Timberwolves because he was drafted first and is the best.
