Bad Bunny Biography

Bunny was born on March 10, 1994, and raised in the Almirante Sur barrio of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. His father, Tito Martínez, was a truck driver, and his mother, Lysaurie Ocasio, is a retired schoolteacher.

As a child, he attended church weekly with his devoutly Catholic mother and sang in the church choir until age 13. After leaving the choir, he developed an interest in the artists he heard on the radio, particularly Daddy Yankee and Héctor Lavoe.

Bad Bunny Career

Bunny started getting famous on Soundcloud and at the time, he was a bagger at a local supermarket while studying at the University of Puerto Rico but was also signed to a record label at the time.

His breakthrough single “Soy Poer” in late 2016 gave him the push he needed but started gaining international recognition when he collaborated with American superstars, Cardi B and Drake on the singles “Like It and “Mia” which made their way to the Billboard Hot 100 at number one and three respectively.

In 2018, Bad Bunny’s debut album, X100pre won a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album and then in February 2020, when he released his second studio album, YHLQMDLG (Yo hago lo que me da la gana), it went ahead to win a Grammy Awards for Best Latin Pop Award.

In that same year (2020) Bad Bunny had the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl LIV halftime show as a guest alongside the famous Shakira and Jennifer Lopez and went ahead to be the first Latin urban music artist to feature on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
