Gobert plays at the Centre position and has a monstrous wingspan of 7 feet 8½ inches wide.

He also represents the French national team in their international competitions.

Known for his agility, defensive blocks, and strategic shots.

These are perfectly complimented by his physical characteristics, such as body size and height, which, aside from hard effort, talent, and love for the game, are important qualities that favor the best basketball players.

He is one of the most notable players in the NBA.

Early life

Rudy Gobert was born in Saint-Quentin, Aisne, in the north of France.

His father, Rudy Bourgarel, is from Guadeloupe which makes Gobert half-Guadeloupian.

His Father played professionally in France where he met Gobert’s mum Corinne Gobert.

The two later separated when Rudy was 3 leaving his mum to single handedly take care of her son alone.

He stayed with his mother in Saint-Quentin and made regular trips to Guadeloupe to see his father.

The Utah Jazz signed Gobert to a four-year, $104 million contract in the 2016-17 season. Gobert’s expensive contract made him the highest-paid French basketball player in terms of annual pay at the time.

Gobert was named the French Player of the Year for 2019.

On December 25, 2018, Gobert recorded a season-high seven blocks in a 117–96 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Gobert had become an offensive and defensive anchor for the Jazz through 45 games in the 2019–20 season, averaging 15.7 points and 14.6 rebounds per game.

Gobert was named a Western Conference reserve for the 2020 NBA All-Star Game alongside teammate Donovan Mitchell on January 30, 2020.

Gobert signed a five-year, $205 million contract deal with the Jazz on December 20, 2020. The deal extension for Gobert was the third-biggest in NBA history, and the largest for a center.

Gobert was named a Western Conference reserve for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game alongside teammate Donovan Mitchell on February 23, 2021, marking the pair’s second consecutive All-Star selection.

At the 2011 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, Gobert won bronze, and at the 2012 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, he won silver.
