PG13, horrific leg injury, Age and Contract

PG13 whose real name is Clifton Paul Anthony George (born May 2, 1990) is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association for the Los Angeles Clippers (NBA).

He is a seven-time NBA All-Star and six-time All-NBA Team member, as well as a four-time NBA All-Defensive Team member, he has the Nickname “PG-13.”

Despite being an athlete and must always keep a healthy diet, he confessed to eating chicken wings and macaroni and cheese on a regular.

 


Early Life

George was born in Los Angeles County in Palmdale, California, and is the son of Paul George and Paulette George.

As the last born, he grew up with two older sisters: Teiosha and Portala.

Little George grew up rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, and he idolized Lakers player Kobe Bryant of Blessed Memory.

George spent the majority of his leisure time at the park or playing one-on-one basketball against his older sister Teiosha.

Career

PG13 attended Knight High School in Palmdale.

Despite his accomplishments, PG13 was not considered a major prospect for the Colleges.

Because of the increased prospects for much playing time, he selected Fresno State over offers from Georgetown and Penn State.

George played two years at California State University, Fresno, more commonly known as Fresno State.

Entering his Sophomore season it was reported that George was labelled the most entertaining player in his region, the team finished the season 15–18.

On November 10, 2019, George’s number 24 was retired by Fresno State.

He was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 10th overall pick of the 2010 NBA draft making him become the highest NBA draft pick in Fresno State history, and earned NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors.

He is regarded as the Greatest Pacer of all time for his history of competitiveness and go to drive.

He exited the Pacers after 7 years to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis.

His exit was not for basketball reasons but for personal reasons.

In his debut for the Thunder in their season opener on October 19, 2017, George scored a team-high 28 points in a 105–84 win over the New York Knicks.

He helped OKC to a playoff berth that season only to be beaten by the Jazz in a 6 game series losing 4-2.

He set an Oklahoma City playoff record with eight 3-pointers, making eight of 11 shots from long range, and 13 of 20 shots overall.

He recorded his third career triple-double with 47 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a 120–111 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2018-19 season.

PG 13 and The Thunder were eliminated once again in the first round of the playoffs by the Trail Blazers in five games, despite George scoring 36 points in Game 5.

The Thunder then traded George to the Clippers for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, five first-round draft picks, and the rights to swap two other first round picks.

He has been at the Clippers from 2019 till present.

Following shoulder surgery, he missed the first eleven games of the regular season.

On November 14, 2019, George made his debut for his new side, scoring 33 points in a 132–127 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

George signed a four-year, $190 million contract extension with the Clippers on December 10, 2020.

With 41 points in game 6 against the Suns in the Western Conference Final, that became his playoffs career high.

PG13 Horrific leg Injury

He has suffered injuries but the most fatal one came in a scrimmage for team USA when he attempted a block on James Harden but landed awkwardly on the basket’s pole causing his knee to collapse.

He was hospitalized and diagnosed of the tibula fibula fracture causing him to miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season.

 

Contract

Paul George has signed a maximum contract extension with the LA Clippers that guarantees him as much as $226 million over the next five years.
He is the highest paid player at the Clippers and 10th highest paid in the NBA.
