Claude Jean Camille As Jean-Claude Van Damme, François Van Varenberg is a Belgian actor, martial artist, director, and fight choreographer.
After four years of training, Van Damme qualified for the Belgium Karate Team. He defeated the second-best karate fighter in the world while still a teenager and went on to win the middleweight title of the European Professional Karate Association.
Van Damme is not “simply an actress,” but rather a highly skilled fighter. As a young adult, he won the European middleweight karate championship.
He traveled to the United States in 1982 with the goal of becoming an actor, working odd jobs and in a number of movies until landing his big break as the star of the action movie Bloodsport (1988).
Jean-Claude Van Damme was born on October 18, 1960, in Sint-Agatha-Berchem, Belgium.
