He was born David Jason Muir on November 8, 1973, to his parents Ronald Muir (father) and Pat Mills (mother). David was born in Syracuse, New York, he grew up on Onondaga Hill. He completed his high school at Onondaga Central Junior-Senior High School. From there, he went to the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College in New York. He also graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. David also studied at the Institute of Political Journalism at Georgetown University and the University of Salamanca in Spain. He worked as a reporter for WTVH-TV in Syracuse. From there, he had the chance to work at WCVB-TV in Boston before making it to ABC News in 2003.
