Eric Gordon whose full name is Eric Ambrose Gordon Jnr. is an American professional basketball plyer with the Houston Rockets.

Gordon was a one-year college basketball player at Indiana, where he was regarded as one of the best collegiate players in the country.

 

Early Life

Eric was born December 25, 1988 in Indianapolis.

He began playing sports at the Jewish Community Center across the street from his family when he was four years old, starting with soccer and swiftly progressing to basketball.

He started playing competitive basketball at the Municipal Gardens when he was seven years old.

 

 

Career

Gordon went to Fox Hill Elementary School, which was located directly across the street from his childhood home.


He subsequently went on to Northview Middle School and North Central High School, where he played four years of varsity basketball.

He led North Central to the Indiana 4A title game his senior year.

Going through a back and forth on what College to attend next, Gordon decided on Indiana due to the reason being that his college coach was hired as assistant coach.

Gordon attended Indiana University Bloomington (IU.

He spent a year with the Hoosiers as a shooting guard and planned to major in sports management.

Gordon received numerous awards during his year at Indiana University.

He was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-American third team.

He’s the all-time leading freshman scorer for Indiana. With 669 points, he set an IU and Big Ten record.

Gordon announced at the Jewish Community Center about his desire to enter the 2008 NBA draft.

He was drafted with the seventh pick in the 2008 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.

Gordon played at the Clippers for 3 seasons before being traded to the New Orleans Hornets.

It was at the Hornets he became a master of driving to the rim for a layup and for a player small his size he always did the big things beyond his reach.

He was subsequently named the recipient of the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in the 2016-17 season, becoming the first player in franchise history to receive the award after his trade to the Houston Rockets where he currently is.

Gordon set a career best with 50 points on 14-of-22 field goal shooting and 6-11 shooting from three in a 126–117 win over the Utah Jazz on January 27, 2020.

He became the third Rocket this season (after Russell Westbrook and James Harden) to score 40 or more points in a single game, and the first player not named Harden to do so in 24 years.

Eric played for Team USA in the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Istanbul, Turkey, assisting the United States in winning the gold medal with a perfect 9–0 record.
