Vivek Ramaswamy is an American entrepreneur, author, and political activist. He co-founded Strive Asset Management in 2022 and currently serves as the Executive Chairman. Before Strive, Ramaswamy founded Roivant Sciences, a biopharmaceutical company. In August 2021, he published Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam, and in September 2022, he published Nation of Victims: Identity Politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence.
Prior to Roivant, Ramaswamy co-founded a technology company and was a partner at an investment firm. Since 2020, he has been speaking out against stakeholder capitalism, big tech censorship, and critical race theory. He has been referred to as “The C.E.O. of Anti-Woke, Inc.” and “one of the intellectual godfathers of the anti-woke movement.”
Ramaswamy was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Indian immigrant parents. His father worked at the General Electric Plant in Ohio, while his mother was a geriatric psychiatrist. Ramaswamy has argued that American-style capitalism provides an antidote to the caste system in India by offering more economic opportunities to lower-caste citizens.
He graduated from Harvard College in 2007 with an A.B. in biology, and in 2013, he received a J.D. from Yale Law School. Ramaswamy is also a candidate for the 2024 United States presidential election, having announced his decision to run on Tucker Carlson Tonight on February 21, 2023.
