Billy Beane’s Biography

Beane was born on 29 March 1962 in Orlando, Florida. His real name is William Lamar Beane III. Billy revealed that his father taught him how to pitch as they played baseball. With time, he became very good at it and so whiles schooling at Mt. Carmel High School in Rancho Peñasquitos, San Diego, he was already a baseball star. When he joined the University of California, San Diego, he was chosen as a team for the final game of his freshman season.

Billy’s impressive skills landed him a call from Stanford University with a quarterback position offer. He had other options from other teams like New York Mets which he later signed for at a $125,000 signing bonus. Beane played for teams like Oakland Athletics, Minnesota Twins, and Detroit Tigers. Billy played for a while before retiring in 1990 and was inducted as a scout in the A’s. He was later promoted to assistant general manager and in 1997 became the general manager.
