Career

McLemore played high school basketball at Wellston High School in St. Louis, Missouri for three years before his school was shut down in 2010.

During his senior year of high school, he attended both Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, and Christian Life Center in Humble, Texas.

The NCAA ruled McLemore ineligible to play after he committed to Kansas because he attended various high schools, causing his transcripts to be “a little murky.”

Starting in the second semester of the school year, he was allowed to practice with the team and participate in team events.

He declared for the 2013 NBA Draft and McLemore was selected with the seventh overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2013 NBA draft.

He signed his rookie scale deal with the Kings on July 13, 2013, and joined them for the 2013 NBA Summer League.

In November 2013, he was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month.

McLemore was chosen to compete in the 2014 Sprite Slam Dunk contest in February 2014.

McLemore set a season high with 31 points in the Kings’ final regular-season game against the Phoenix Suns on April 16.

He started 55 games in his first season, averaging 8.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 26.7 minutes per game.

McLemore re-joined the Kings in July 2014 for the 2014 NBA Summer League, where he helped them win the title while averaging 12.6 points in seven games.

The Kings activated their third-year team option on McLemore’s rookie scale contract on October 19, 2014, extending it through the 2015–16 season.

He set a season best with 27 points in a win over the Charlotte Hornets on March 11, 2015.

During the 2014–15 season, he started all 82 regular-season games for the Kings, averaging 12.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 32.6 minutes per game.

McLemore signed a multi-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies on July 7, 2017.

After injuring his right foot in a pickup game on August 8, 2017, he was ruled out for about 12 weeks.

McLemore was assigned to the NBA G League’s Memphis Hustle on November 2, 2017.

He was recalled a week later and made his Grizzlies debut on November 11, 2017, in a 111–96 defeat to the Houston Rockets, earning four points and two rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

He returned to the Kings before he signed with the Houston Rockets and was part of Mike D’Antoni’s small ball unique Rockets team.

McLemore signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
On April 8, he made his debut in a loss against Miami Heat, scoring 6 points off the bench.

On August 5, 2021, McLemore signed with the Portland Trail Blazers.
