Andre  Drummond was born on the 10th of August,1993 and is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets.
He was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the 2012 NBA draft as the ninth overall pick.
Regarded as one of the highly rated players in College Drummond played one season of college basketball with the Connecticut Huskies before declaring for the draft in 2012.



Early life

Andre is of Jamaican parents through his parents.
He was born in Mount Vernon, New York, USA and moved to Middletown, Connecticut as a
7-year-old with his mother and sister.
At Middletown he attended Woodrow Wilson Middle School before starting his High school chapter at Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut.
Drummond was one of the most dominating centers in high school basketball during his era.
Andre led the team to the national prep championship in 2011.

Andre Drummond was also a member of the gold medal winning USA team at the 2010 FIBA Under-17 World Championship. He played his part in leading the team to a 111–80 victory over Poland in the gold medal game.

At college he represented the University of Connecticut, the Huskies.
He led the team in rebounds and blocks as expected for a Center his size and frame.
Drummond’s collegiate career ended in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, as the Huskies fell to Iowa State.
Drummond announced his decision to enter the 2012 NBA draft after that.

Drummond was selected by the Detroit Pistons with the ninth overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.
Andre Drummond scored 30 points and an NBA Rising Stars Challenge record 25 rebounds, and was subsequently named MVP.
He finished 4th in the rookie of the year voting.
Drummond not known for his free throw prowess missed 23 free throws surpassing a previous record of 22 set by Wilt Chamberlain. He also attempted 36 free throws, a record.

In 2016, he earned his first NBA All-Star Game selection as a reserve for the Eastern Conference in the 2016 NBA All-Star Game.
During the All-Star weekend, he also participated in the Slam Dunk Contest.
The star helped the Pistons clinch the 8th seed and eventually make the playoffs, the first time the Franchise made the playoffs since 2009.
They went on to be swept by the Cavs in round one.
He was involved in a shocking trade that will send him to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Brandon Knight, John Henson and a 2023 second round draft pick.
But he wouldn’t last for long at the Cavs as they reached out on a buyout with Drummond.

He signed a 1-year deal with the Lakers to strengthen their rooster.

Lakers made the playoffs but were eliminated by the Suns in a 4-2 series.



Trade

On August 4, 2021, Drummond signed a 1-year contract worth $2.4 million veteran’s minimum contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Many said this move was for some exposure which handed him a trade to the Brooklyn Nets.

In his debut for the Nets, Drummond recorded 11 points and nine rebounds in a 109–85 win against the Sacramento Kings, helping his new side end an 11-game losing streak.

Andre Drummond completed a five-year, $130 million deal he signed with the Detroit Pistons as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Andre Drummond and iCarly star Jennette McCurdy had a short relationship in the past.

McCurdy recalls how Drummond was so much into her and even bought her a necklace on their first date only for Drummond to propose to her by kneeling down.

She was not into it but said yes to the proposal only for her to break up with him on phone a few days later.
